What are the emerging trends girls could die for ?

1.   Le loungewear

It is the perfect indoor garment to relax and chill at home. Loungewear is the alliance between elegance and comfort. You can also wear it for your everyday life.

2.   Retro

As you know in this blog, we LOVE retro and vintage. Retro-lingerie is having a great success. For a long time, lingerie from the old days seemed old-fashioned and not enhancive. Today, it is a must have!

We love pin up and libertinism!

3.   The shape wear is also making a great return.

Yesterday lingerie was sheathing, today it is carving or bending. Let’s all wear carving linen room to hide our little bodies weaknesses.

The 49th Edition of the Salon International de la Lingerie in Paris

On 21, 22 and 23 January 2012, the Salon International de la Lingerie will take place in the popular Pavillion 1 at the Parc des Expositions, Portes de Versailles in Paris.
During these 3 days, the Salon shares the Paris-Expo with the Fashion wave event (Who’s next, Prêt-à –porter, Eclat de Mode, Interfilière Paris and more).
Reserved to professionals of the market, this event will give you a complete view of the current lingerie industry.

5 areas to find your happiness

Be Essential : corsetry, daytime lingerie, stockings and tights
Be Chic : designers, avant-garde collections
Be Spicy : young underwear and homewear
Be Lounging : discover homewear, loungwear and yogawear along nightwear and home universe collections

For the most interested people, fashion shows and conferences presented by the most influential trends agencies will be organized every day.  Spectators will be able to discover new collections and the fashion trends predictions for the next years.
The Salon follows the trend

The loungewear trend inspires brands this year. Nowadays women work as harder as men, running every day in a strict tight dress and standing on 10 centimeters heel shoes. When they come back home and have to take care of the household, the comfort is the most important thing.
The lounge wear is a mix between the chic of everyday clothes and the comfort of a pajama.  Creators use comfortable materials as cotton, wool or cashmere.

The Salon International de la Lingerie fights against breast cancer

For the third consecutive year, The Salon International de la Lingerie keeps his involvement with the Pink Bra Bazaar association. How does the Salon take part? For one ticket entry bought, 1€ will be given to the Pink Bra Bazaar association.

Pink Bra Bazaar is the first association which gathers underwear fashion and women to beat against the breast cancer.  Collected money will be invested in research, prevention and cancer screening.

How is the Lingerie market doing ?

1.   Lingerie market is suffering

If we thought the underwear market were safe from the crisis, it is not true.

We notify a 4.5% decrease in 2009 with 2.5 billion Euros turnover. Women tend to save their money on this field. French women budget for lingerie is 93 € (8% decrease from 2008)

It is the first year that the fall of our average basket is not compensated by a rise of volume of our purchases.

2.   Young ladies are changing their consumption

The 15-24 years old girls which were the first consumers, are now spending 101 € in 2009 (against 135 € in 2008). Young consumers prefer to buy cheaper lingerie in sales than high quality.

3.   Mature women are spoiling themselves, and they are right!

You are devoting 109 € to your lingerie budget in 2009. You like to offer yourselves high quality and “savoir-faire” from time to time. And you also like to talk about it with your friends…

4.   Let’s talk about men!

The Legend talks about men buying lingerie for their girlfriend. It is actually not exactly true! Only 15% of men are doing it and they are between 25 and 49 years old. (TNS Worlpanel). Most of them don’t dare entering in a shop.

Actually, if 5.6% of the purchases are made online, 32% of them are done by men. On the contrary, close to 1 male linen room out of 3 were purchased by women in 2008

Sneak peak at the 48th salon international de la lingerie in Paris

Invited to the 48th salon international de la lingerie, we will tell you about it in detail. From the 22nd to the 24th January, 2011, we have been at The Pavillon 1 of the Parc des Expositions in Paris, to see the new collections and new trends 2011 of lingerie.

Before sharing our experience during the Salon, a quick reminder of the 2011 figures:
-          18 381 visitors came to the Salon International de la Lingerie in 2011 including :
o   42 % from France
o   58 % International

-          +25% multi-brand retailers : a core target market won over by the trade show
-          +14% buyers : buying managers were excited and inspired by brand’s creativity
-          +22% brands present

-          65 TV/radio report in 2011 (+38% vs. 2010)
-          294 professional and public press publications in 2011 (+25% vs 2010)

All around the salon, the 50’s century is back with female curves, slim waist and bosomy. The 550 exhibitors have brought obus bras and high-waisted panties out again. It is the end of strings and half-cup bras, it is time to covered lingerie fashion… in order to be well take off. The come-back of The Burlesque promotes generous breast, assumed curves and removes women complexes who practice striptease.

Lace, silk, satin… brands used transparent and light materials. Even if flashy colors, orange or red, represent the romanticism, black stays the color for seduction.

A little farther, we have found transgressed lingerie. Women play with arrogance but they are never vulgar.

At large size corner, Empreinte French brand, elected best 2011 creator has revealed mould guipure and not sewed. It is like a second skin, it is a world first.

In another hall, the lounge wear has taken a largest place compared with 2010. There, women can find confortable clothes but still fashion and beautiful.

According to a  Xerfi study published in July 2010, the lingerie consumption has well resisted to the crisis in 2009. Even if the market will stay constant until the end of 2011, the augmentation of raw materials costs, especially cotton, and the labor from production countries allow uncertainty to predict the future of the market.
